The original SDS was based on an XML record format and didn't have tables or T-SQL. There was a lot of concerned feedback about that and Microsoft announced a change of direction in March, to give us the familiar SQL Server we are used to in the cloud. That is what SQL Azure is. We are supposed to get our first CTP preview of SQL Azure in August.
